Il Castagnello is a five bed-roomed secluded farmhouse, set in the tranquil and beautiful chestnut forests of the Alpi Apuane. Il Castagnello is less than one hour from Pisa International Airport, 30 minutes from the medieval walled city of Lucca and less than one hour by train from the culture and architecture of Florence. The villa is also ideally placed for day trips to the seaside - the Italian Riviera with Viarreggio and Forte di Marme make a fabulous family day out. Il Castagnello’s secluded charm is set in terraced hillside grounds. There is sole use of the swimming pool and lots of opportunity for the children (and adults) to explore the woodland. Set on a private drive two kilometres from the main road you will enjoy breathtaking views across the valley to the hillside battlements of Barga, your nearest town. In Barga, approximately 5 mins drive, you can enjoy a glass of chianti, a pizza or an ice cream and wander the narrow streets up to the Duomo to enjoy views over the mountains. During the season Barga enjoys art, opera and jazz festivals. If you want something more energetic than lying by the pool in the sun you can head for the local sports facilities (detailed further), you can fish in the River Serchio, horse ride in the valley or walk (or trek for the more adventurous!) in the beautiful Garfaghana National Park.
